CHANGEMAKER CHATS
Changemaker Chats is an educational initiative that aims to provide space for facilitated discussions around social and political issues. We provide resource materials and invite guest speakers who are experts on the topics. To make the chats more accessible they will be recorded and shared on Youtube!
CLIMATE
April 2022 our Changemaker Chats focused on the climate and environment.
Participants listened to the “How to Save the Planet” episode on fast fashion. Our discussion focused on the impacts of the industry and looking at practices as a consumer.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
In 2020 we led a slow read of a book, The End of Policing by Alex S. Vitale.
The summer of 2020 we fought for racial and equitable justice in Lancaster City. In order to create effective and tangible change, we needed to understand the systems of oppression that are in place.
MENTAL HEALTH & AAPI
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month!
Our discussion in 2022 was on the film, Kiki’s Delivery Service, exploring the themes of Asian American heritage and mental health.
The discussion was facilitated and hosted by Elizabeth Peters of Read Rose Books!
